What's For Dinner Hauling is an appliance removal and scrap metal hauling business. I operated WFD Hauling in the Chapel Hill, NC area for about two years in 2011 and 2012. I earned a good income for a single guy with no dependents and consider it to be a way for a motivated person to earn a good second income.
The combination of a professional e-commerce website and a one man operation is the trick to being competitive with the big haulers. The website is on the same page of search results (or right next to) the big hauler's website's. The WFD Hauling website is smart looking and easy to use. You benefit from being a small operation because you can offer your service at a nominal price - just $2 per appliance.
The What’s for Dinner business model is both solid and recession-proof. I am just getting started with making this reasonable way to earn money available to other guys in other cities. The only asset which I am offering for sale is the lease of a website and all technical and graphic design support the business needs – including any advertising design work. If you want to outright buy the website I am happy to discuss this you. I currently am in the process of leasing 16 WFD Hauling websites in NC, VA, SC, GA, and KY. This is in the beginning stages. If all goes as planned name recognition will come with time and each WFD will have a resale value as a franchise.
Every WFD Hauling website does come with an exclusive territory, and can be transferred to a new owner. As long as the new owner pays the monthly fee which I require to update and maintain the website (includes all costs associated with the website – hosting, domain name registration, etc.).
I learned firsthand the way to make decent money with this. I'm willing to help with any "how to" questions you might have. I'm also willing to diversify the website to your particular skill-set.
WFD Hauling is competitive. The customer base is largely people who shop online and like the convenience of scheduling and paying online. I've found that this is a different group than those who will hire from craigslist for free appliance removal. The discussions I’ve had with people tell me that people like the dependability of hiring a legitimate service like WFD Hauling. People who are coming by to collect for free often cancel. Also – moving heavy appliances out of houses and up and down stairs can be dangerous to the customer’s property. The customer likes to know that there is accountability if there are damages as a result of a sloppy removal job.
